VFX & GFX Producer / Production Manager

Bristol | 6-Month Contract | Full-Time

The opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced VFX & GFX Producer / Production Manager to join our Bristol-based creative studio on an initial six-month contract.

We’re a specialist creative business working across VFX, motion graphics and animation delivering high-quality work for clients across film, television.

This is an important role for us. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of the production process from the moment a brief arrives through to final delivery — bringing structure, commercial thinking and organisation to a busy creative environment.

This isn't an admin or diary-management role. You’ll be responsible for making projects happen.

You’ll work closely with our Creative Director, as well as with our animation and motion design team.

We’re looking for someone who can understand a creative brief, work out what is required, build a sensible production plan, estimate the work, manage resources and keep everyone moving towards delivery.

What you'll be doing

Production & project management

  • Own projects from initial brief through to final delivery.

  • Take incoming enquiries and make sure briefs are complete and clearly understood.

  • Establish deliverables, formats, deadlines, versions, usage requirements and client expectations.

  • Build production schedules and manage projects against them.

  • Coordinate internal artists, animators and external freelancers and suppliers.

  • Manage client feedback and approval rounds.

  • Track progress, identify potential problems early and keep projects moving.

  • Coordinate final delivery and ensure everything is completed to the required standard.

Estimating & quoting

  • Turn creative briefs into clear production plans.

  • Break projects down into tasks, resources and timings.

  • Estimate artist, animator, VFX, GFX and production time.

  • Identify when external freelancers or suppliers are required.

  • Obtain and manage external costs.

  • Prepare estimates and quotes for internal approval.

  • Track budgets and actuals throughout production.

  • Identify scope changes and make sure additional work is properly managed and costed.

You won't be expected to know the technical answer to everything. What matters is that you know what questions to ask, can recognise when something needs specialist input, and can work effectively with our team to arrive at the right solution.

Client & team communication

  • Act as a key day-to-day contact for clients during production.

  • Keep clients informed about progress, timings and approvals.

  • Translate creative requirements into clear production briefs.

  • Coordinate feedback between clients and the creative team.

  • Communicate clearly, professionally and confidently when deadlines or scope need to be discussed.

  • Build positive working relationships with clients, freelancers and suppliers.

Operations & business support

  • Maintain an overview of current and upcoming production capacity.

  • Help us make the best use of our internal team and freelance network.

  • Maintain production records, POs, supplier costs and timesheets.

  • Track estimates versus actuals and help identify project profitability.

  • Follow up outstanding quotes and help maintain a healthy production pipeline.

  • Help develop and improve our production processes, estimating templates and systems.

  • Contribute to identifying opportunities for new work and new clients.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who has real production experience within a creative environment and a good understanding of technical processes within a VFX pipeline.

You should also be comfortable in a small-business environment where everyone gets involved and where there's plenty of opportunity to improve the way things are done.

We would ideally like someone who can work from our Bristol studio, with flexibility around hybrid working depending on the individual and the needs of the production schedule.
