Revealed: America's Secret War Plan
20th September 2000hrs
Channel 5

"Documentary about War Plan Red, an American strategy to make war on Great Britain. It was conceived in the late 1920s and developed throughout the next decade, including the idea to build air bases capable of bombing cities in the British dominion of Canada, where the US top brass intended the conflict to take place. The plan was officially withdrawn in 1939, with the outbreak of the Second World War, although it was not declassified until 1974.
Now, military experts and historians work through the plans as a war game, showing how they would have worked in practice and revealing who would have won if Great Britain's closest ally had ever become its most dangerous enemy".

Colourful series marking the 200th anniversary of one of the most explosive and creative decades in British history. It presents a vivid portrait of an age of elegance presided over by a prince of decadence - the infamous Prince Regent himself, a man with legendary appetites for women, food and self-indulgence. Yet this was the same man who would rebuild London, carving out the great thoroughfare of Regent Street and help establish the Regency look as the epitome of British style through his extravagant patronage of art and design.
"I'm super-keen to channel a bit of butch Regency style," said Lucy Worsley in Elegance and Decadence Ð the Age of the Regency, her history of the Regency period. She's super-keen full stop, frankly, always happy to dive into the dressing-up box or do a bit of skippy pantomime across the screen. Only one thing stilled her relentless cheeriness, which was unwrapping battlefield souvenirs Byron had sent back to his publisher from Waterloo. Cockades and buttons and cannon shot, touched by the poet and, before him, by men at the heart of a historic moment. It's the details that do it".

Just heading into the final stages of final post production is "The Art of Regency" (working title) presented by historian Dr Lucy Worsley. If there's one decade that marked an unparalleled cultural shift, and did so with a riotous outpouring of art, fashion, architecture, design and literature, it was 1811-1820, the nine years of the Regency era.

The Regency happened at a moment when the greatest living artists Ð Turner, Constable and Lawrence Ð were all British. It was a period of tremendous energy, when the Prince Regent led an architectural crusade that created one of the most familiar design brands in British history Ð the Regency look.
At the centre of Lucy's take on the period is the compelling central figure of George, the Prince Regent. Lucy argues that no other Royal before or since has had a greater impact on Britain's culture Ð both as an enlightened patron and collector, and as a symbol of misrule, a man capable of inspiring hatred in poets, wits and writers.
"Deadly 60 Ten of the Best" is also in the final stages of Grade, Online and final mixing. The Good Cook is rating extremely well and has been pick of the week in the Observer 3 weeks in a row. Episode 4 goes out this week on Friday 7:30pm on BBC1 or you can catch it on iPlayer by

The Lock Up is now showing on BBC One having been so successful on BBC three. This is the really sharp end of policing - the custody unit where suspects are kept during that volatile period between arrest and, possibly, a court appearance. So what happens there? About 6,500 prisoners were brought in to Priory Road custody suites last year, under suspicion of anything from shoplifting to murder. Locked in an eight by ten foot cell, the suspects can be waiting in here up to 24 hours to hear if they'll be tried in court.
Sgt Dave Beer Sergeant Dave Beer supervises information being put into the computer system at the custody desk.
During a year of filming, custody staff handled some of the most volatile, fragile and demanding members of society - attempted suicide, and "dirty" protests, teenage drug addicts, children in care and violent offenders.
The custody suite is a hidden corner of policing that goes largely unnoticed by the public but it's the gateway everyone must go through if and when they enter the criminal justice system.
Inside these miniature prisons, the role of the police is unlike any other. The sergeant and his team of detention officers are not interested in whether prisoners are innocent or guilty. Their role is solely to ensure the welfare of inmates while they await their fate.

Broadcast on Monday 4th April on BBC three "My Brother The Islamist" Full online post and audio finishing completed with us at doghouse. Graded by Jules, Commrecord by Ric and Final Mix by Andy. This is a great observationl documentary with unpresidentd access. click on the mage below for more information.

Tree surgeon-turned-filmmaker Robb Leech is an ordinary white middle-class boy from the Dorset seaside town of Weymouth. So too is his stepbrother Rich, but a little over a year ago Rich became a radical Islamist who now goes by the name of Salahuddin. He associates with jihadist fundamentalists and believes the UK should be ruled by Sharia law.
In a film that took over twelve months to shoot, Robb sets out to reconnect with his extremist stepbrother and find clues to what led Rich to become Salahuddin. It charts the brothers' relationship and Robb's attempt to understand why the person he'd once looked up to as a teenage role model could so strongly reject all that his family and the Western world believe in. As Robb spends time with Salahuddin, he witnesses a very particular phenomenon - the embrace of radical Islamism by young men, many of them white.
Robb first heard of Rich's conversion in a national newspaper in the summer of 2009. The article said Rich had converted under Anjem Choudary, leader of the radical Muslim group Islam4UK (later banned under Britain's anti-terror laws). Robb was horrified by the things his stepbrother was telling him - that under Sharia law, women should be stoned to death for committing adultery, that he was prepared to die for Islam and that as a non-believer, Robb was going to hell. Just the previous summer the two brothers had shared a room on holiday in Cyprus and been practically inseparable. Robb began filming what was happening to Rich to try to understand why it had happened and what the world was like that Rich had chosen.

Our dear Alice is moving on from Doghouse at the end of the month to persue a new career with the NHS as a midwife. She joined us nearly three years ago from UWE and started as a runner and quickly worked her way up into a more technical role and after a year in the machine room moved into the office where she has been assisting Felicity with bookings and the general running of Doghouse administration.
We are very happy for her and although we will miss her jolly smile and quick whit all of us here know that she will have a fantastic bedside manner which should put her in good stead for her new chosen career. Jules will temporarily be covering Alice for from April 1st until we find a suitable replacement.

We're on fire and so are the productions coming through our door as we have not one but two "pick of the weeks" in this Sunday's Observer... Tomorow night (Wednesday) 9PM on BBC 4
Birds Britannia part 1 of 4 starts for a run of four consecutive weeks. The series looks at the different birds that live in the UK and at the stories they can tell us about the British people over time.

Our second "Pick of the week" is actually a Pick of the Day, Ego: The strange and wonderful world of self portrait. Art critic Laura Cumming takes a journey through more than five centuries of self-portraits and finds out how the greatest names in western art transformed themselves into their own masterpieces.
Laura investigates the stories behind key self-portraits, interviews artists as they attempt a self-portrait, and shows how the history of the self-portrait is about more than how art and artists have changed - it also charts the evolution of the way we see ourselves and what it means to be human.
It is a 90 Minute doc that is transmitted on Thursday 4th November on BBC4 at 9pm.

One city, eight weeks and two contrasting schools come together to put on a professional production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In a unique experiment, each school is cast as one of the two feuding families at the heart of the world's favourite love story.
Romeo and his Montague clan come from a Coventry city centre comprehensive while Juliet and the Capulets are from a Catholic school in the city's northern suburbs. Trying to get the show on the road is artistic director of the National Youth Theatre, Paul Roseby. Also on hand as mentors - one for each school - are Hustle actor and RADA-trained Shakespeare fan Adrian Lester and his wife, actress Lolita Chakrabarti. Can they help the teenage cast overcome their preconceptions about Shakespeare, and work with each other, to create a Romeo and Juliet for a new generation, iambic pentameter and all?

We have had a great time and although many people have been and gone over the last few months we know they will be back with us very soon, so to all those who have been literally living with us for the last 12 weeks, thank you and see you all again.

The Doghouse team all attended the TX party for the first broadcast of
"80 Days Around the World" at The Picture House on Whiteladies Road. The series is helping to raise money for the BBC Children in Need charity and we are very privileged to be a part of it. The TX gathering was a busy event and we are extremely proud of the finished product; it looked amazing and the sound mix was perfect, it was crystal clear even thought we were in a crowded room; even Executive Producer Julian Mercer commented on how great it all was from a technical point of view. The whole team were very proud and the fact that the show won the 9PM slot with 4.2m viewers (18.9%) made it good cause to celebrate. The series is being simultaneously broadcast on BBC HD.

The Doghouse shared storage has now been expanded to 48 Terrabytes Capable of handling over 890 hours of uncompressed DVC Pro HD footage or 3600 hours of Uncompressed DV PAL footage, still shared between 11 suites and three viewing rooms. This expansion enables us to further streamline our workflows and reduce the amount of time spent on end of edits while simultaneously producing multiple copies of DVD's and playouts without interrupting the editors time in the suite. This, along with our manageable size of 10 Staff members to 11 Edit suites and attention to detail makes the good ship "Doghouse" continue to sail confidently during these uncertian times and it certainly helps in these days of "Quick Turn Around".
